Statement of Faith
At Paul Theological Seminary, our faith is the foundation of all we do. We are committed to preparing leaders who are not only academically excellent but also spiritually grounded in the core truths of Christianity. Our beliefs are rooted in the historical, biblical faith, which we affirm as a guide for both life and ministry.
Our Foundation in Faith
We believe in providing a holistic education that nurtures the mind, heart, and spirit, grounded in biblical truth and theological excellence.
The Holy Scriptures
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is without error in its original writings and is the ultimate source of truth for all matters of Christian faith and practice. We are committed to the Biblical exposition of the Scriptures, believing that proper interpretation and application are essential for personal growth and effective ministry.
The One True God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, and He reigns sovereign over the universe. God is infinite, holy, loving, and just, and He reveals Himself to humanity through creation, conscience, and, most perfectly, in His Son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ, the Savior
We believe in the full deity and full humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life. As the Lamb of God, He willingly died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of humanity, was physically resurrected on the third day, and ascended into heaven, where He now serves as our High Priest and Advocate. We believe that salvation is a gift received by grace through faith in Him.
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, co-equal with the Father and the Son. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and He indwells all believers at the moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit empowers us for ministry, guides us into all truth, and provides the spiritual gifts necessary for the building up of the body of Christ and for church planting.
Humanity and Sin
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God but fell into sin through the disobedience of Adam. As a result, all people are born with a sinful nature, are separated from God, and are in need of a savior. We affirm the dignity and value of all human life as created by God, but we also acknowledge our brokenness and our inability to save ourselves.
The Church and Ministry
We believe in the universal church, which is the body of Christ, made up of all true believers from every nation. We also believe in the importance of the local church as a place for worship, fellowship, discipleship, and evangelism. We are committed to training and equipping leaders for effective ministry, whether in traditional church settings, in missions, or in a variety of other service roles.
